Maple Grove Days 2008

Busy, busy weekend here!

On Thursday, we took Sophia to the parade again. (Here are pics from last year's parade. Look at how little she was!)

She had a blast playing with her friends Damon and Talan. Here are some pics-

Looking at something interesting:

Saturday was the carnival. Most of the stuff was for bigger kids, but Sophia had fun running around and watching all the other kids.

Funny story about my little suburban baby. We took her through the petting zoo where she got to see a cow, a kangaroo(!), a goat, and even a turtle -- even though she refused to touch anything. (Notice the folded arms).

When we were leaving the petting zoo, Sophia started crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she wanted to go back to the "farm." Ha ha ha! Poor kid thought the petting zoo was a farm. Guess we need to take her to the country or something.

And here is a little video of Sophia busting a move at the street dance on Saturday night.

We finished up the evening with some ice cream. I have never seen Sophia eat something so fast before. She loved it! Notice her holding on to daddy's arm. She wasn't letting that cone get too far away.

She ate so much we thought she was going to be sick.

Saturday night she stayed up way too late for her first fireworks show. We all sat in the front yard (Nelly too!) and had a perfect view. We were far enough away that they weren't too loud. And Sophia loved them.

Sunday was the art fair. I don't have any photos, but we had fun. Sophia got to try out her monkey harness. I've heard horror stories about people making rude comments about kids on leashes, so we prepared ourselves. Lots of comments about the "monkey on her back" but nothing negative. And she loved the freedom it gave her. She had two hands free to get into trouble, but I knew she wasn't going to bolt into the crowd and get lost.

Yeah, I have heard about the harness comments, too.... good for you guys that it went well.
I love the dancing.
You think she really enjoyed the cone..you should have let her have it. She would have shown you TRUE enjoyment!
