Maple Grove Days 2008

Busy, busy weekend here!

On Thursday, we took Sophia to the parade again. (Here are pics from last year's parade. Look at how little she was!)

She had a blast playing with her friends Damon and Talan. Here are some pics-

Hanging out by the fence:

Nice sticker:

Looking at something interesting:

Saturday was the carnival. Most of the stuff was for bigger kids, but Sophia had fun running around and watching all the other kids.

Funny story about my little suburban baby. We took her through the petting zoo where she got to see a cow, a kangaroo(!), a goat, and even a turtle -- even though she refused to touch anything. (Notice the folded arms).

When we were leaving the petting zoo, Sophia started crying. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she wanted to go back to the "farm." Ha ha ha! Poor kid thought the petting zoo was a farm. Guess we need to take her to the country or something.

And here is a little video of Sophia busting a move at the street dance on Saturday night.

We finished up the evening with some ice cream. I have never seen Sophia eat something so fast before. She loved it! Notice her holding on to daddy's arm. She wasn't letting that cone get too far away.

She ate so much we thought she was going to be sick.

Saturday night she stayed up way too late for her first fireworks show. We all sat in the front yard (Nelly too!) and had a perfect view. We were far enough away that they weren't too loud. And Sophia loved them.

Sunday was the art fair. I don't have any photos, but we had fun. Sophia got to try out her monkey harness. I've heard horror stories about people making rude comments about kids on leashes, so we prepared ourselves. Lots of comments about the "monkey on her back" but nothing negative. And she loved the freedom it gave her. She had two hands free to get into trouble, but I knew she wasn't going to bolt into the crowd and get lost.

20 months old today

Where the heck has the time gone? I can't believe that Sophia will be two in four short months. She is talking up a storm, repeating almost everything we say. Which means I gotta start watching my mouth more. Pretty sure she said "crap" yesterday. Good thing we don't really swear in our house. Crap is about as bad as it gets. But it's still not something I want my toddler running around spouting.

Here is a link to some Father's Day pictures. Ain't she just the cutest??

Piggies!

Sophia's hair is finally long enough for pig tails. Sort of. They are actually more like pig stumps. But still freaking adorable!

And don't let her fool you. She loved her piggies. She kept looking in the mirror and laughing at them. But she hates sitting still and didn't want to pose for photos. Hence the crabby face and blurriness...

can't think of a decent title...

So things have been busy around here lately. Here are some updates:

• Our tenant is moving out of our rental property at the end of the month. We are currently trying to find a new tenant to move in by July 1. If you know anyone looking for a place, let us know!

• Memorial Weekend was great! Chad had all three days off. I literally can't remember the last time he had three days off in a row. Sophia got super spoiled spending three entire days with both mommy and daddy. She loved it!

• We got the swimming pool opened last week. It is currently still nasty and green. But, since it's like 60 degrees outside today, that's okay. Will summer EVER come to Minnesota?

I have some new photos to post later, once I upload them. Here's a cute one to tide you over. Notice the hat. The kid won't go anywhere without a hat these days. Lucky for Sophia, but unlucky for my credit card, Gymboree sells hats that match all their outfits. I think she has about 10.

please pray...

I know some of you were following Emilie's story last year.

Please pray for her and her family. My heart is breaking for them right now.
